Looking for Habibi
Looking for Habibi is a play about love, made and performed by Mokhallad Rasem, Kuno Bakker, Janneke Remmers, singer Britt Truyts, and musician Peter Verhelst
Three actors, a singer and a musician join forces on a search for love. They ponder this powerful emotion that can be directed at so many different things: the child you bear, the person you live with, the planet on which you live – but also the country where you were born, the chair in which your father always sat, the scent of rosemary, and the weapon you use to kill your enemies. Together, in a landscape of sand, they articulate with words and voices, sounds and images.
Feelings live in people, but people live in their love. That’s not a metaphor, it’s reality. Love is not so attached to the ‘I’ that it would take only ‘you’ as its object; its place is between the ‘me’ and the ‘you’.
Looking for Habibi completes the Habibi Trilogy. Following on from their first encounter in De verse tijd and living together in Homemade, in this final part Mokhallad Rasem and Kuno Bakker explore love, along with actor Janneke Remmers, singer Britt Truyts and musician Peter Verhelst.
