Othello (bye bye)

Premiere date

Jealous people feed on the suspicions that they themselves have created
Jealousy feeds on love which it plays with and torments
Jealousy mockingly feeds on the heart of the man who is its victim
The victim himself produces the unreal groundless suspicions which are the food that sustains jealousy

Dood Paard brings this classic by William Shakespeare dealing with jealousy, love and racism with two actors and one technician. A new translation was created giving it a contemporary feel while remaining very close to the original. This results in an intelligent and bold performance filled with double layers in which themes such as jealousy and xenophobia become uncomfortably apparent.
