Habibi Trilogy

Delightfully disarming testament to dialogue and mutual understanding. A daylong theatre experience with Middle Eastern food, drinks and live music during the intermissions

From 2018 to 2022, Mokhallad Rasem and Kuno Bakker worked together on a series of three plays focusing, in turn, on the first encounter, the home, and love. Together, the plays form a trilogy that you can now enjoy as a daylong theatre experience. In the intermissions we’ll be serving Middle Eastern food and drinks, accompanied by live music by Daadouch. Come and take a deep dive into Rasem and Bakker’s universe!

In the first of the three plays, De verse tijd, they are two lost souls trying to find common ground. In Homemade they look for somewhere they can feel at home, and in Looking for habibi they are joined by Janneke Remmers, Peter Verhelst and Britt Truyts as they try to find and hold onto love.

The thread running through the Habibi Trilogy is the relationship between actors Mokhallad Rasem and Kuno Bakker, two born entertainers who draw you into the world of their imaginations. There, in their inimitable way, they tackle major and minor life issues with a blend of levity, poetry, philosophy and banality.

The Habibi Trilogy is co-produced by Dood Paard and Toneelhuis, Antwerp.

By/With Mokhallad Rasem, Kuno Bakker, Janneke Remmers, Peter Verhelst, Britt Truyts, Michael Yallop, Elmar Neudam and Iwan Van Vlierberghe.
